Charging Recommendations

1. Always ensure that the battery is not hot and is at room temperature before charging.

2. Once charged, remove the battery from the charger. Do not store the battery on the charger for extended periods of time. Please note that storing a battery in a charger that is not plugged into the wall, can potentially cause the battery to drain back into the charger. This was more common with older chargers and we have also noted it in some newer chargers.

3. It is recommended to not store the battery on the device when not in use. Storing the battery separately removes the possibility of the device slowly draining the battery. 

4. If you have not used the battery for 2-3 months, we would recommend recharging the battery and if possible, use them. This helps maintain their health.

5. Lastly, be sure to store your battery in a dry environment. If possible, avoid temperatures below freezing and above 110F to maximize battery life.

Shipping

Li-Ion batteries may be regulated for shipment based upon their size. Below are links to the regulations from the three main shipping carriers for shipping lithium batteries. 

USPS will transport batteries that are up to 100Wh per section 349.222 that can be found here.

UPS will transport batteries that are up to, but not including, 300Wh per their information that can be found here. UPS Hazmat Phone: 1-800-554-9964

FedEx will transport batteries that are up to, but not including, 300Wh per their information that can be found here. FedEx Hazmat Phone: 1-800-463-3339

If your battery is in excess of 300Wh, you will need to see if your local UPS or FedEx location has a staff member that is properly trained to package and ship your battery(s).

Note: When we are rebuilding your battery, if your circuit board is found to be defective, we will contact you. At that time we will provide you with the option of sending us another battery or we can refund you for the rebuild service. The old cells are removed and recycled prior to circuit board testing and cannot be shipped back to you. 

Orders containing lithium batteries will ship by ground only regardless of the shipping method chosen.

WorxGT battery rebuild

I was pleased at the quick turn around to receive my battery back. However, I must say I was very disappointed in the fact that after using the battery twice that I only got an average of 32min use out of it until it went dead. Before I sent it I only got 15min out of it before it died. I do have another battery to send in but I'm wondering if its worth it to spend $50 for a rebuild if I'm only going to gain an extra 15 to 20 minutes use out of it? When I got the battery new I got an average of an hour & 15min out of it. So I was expecting (at the least) an hour out of it. The charger works fine so that is not the issue.

We have communicated privately with the client regarding this battery. We also wanted to provide a public reply to provide additional insight.

It can be reasonably concluded that the Worx GT blower uses ~5A of power based upon your review reporting a 32min run time. Our load testing @ 5A supports the 1/2hr run time statement. If 1+ hours of run time is needed @ 5A of power, you would need to have a 5Ah or larger battery. This battery is only 2.5Ah. To our knowledge, Worx did not manufacture a 5Ah battery for this specific system.

The test results below are from when this battery was received back for another review. Please note that MTO paid for shipping both directions and also for the labor to perform this testing. No material, craftsmanship, nor performance defects were found in our testing.

Absolute Savior!

I own a Worx 24 volt leaf blower and edger. Worx no longer manufactures these products and completely stopped selling replacement batteries and they offer zero support. I’ll never purchase their products again. I was just about to get rid of them when I happened to see that MTO could refurbish my battery. They have been an absolute savior for me by refurbishing the only battery that I have and not forcing me to purchase new equipment. The battery works great and I only wish that I had a second battery to send them for refurbishment. I will be using their services again in the future!

Excellent service

My 24v battery died and I couldn’t find a new or even used replacement anywhere. I found MTO Battery rebuilding service on eBay and decided to give them a try. They were reasonably priced and very professional. When my battery returned it was as good as new. I couldn’t be happier. Highly recommended!
